About me!

I'm Emlyn

I graduated from Pratt Institute in 2022 with a BFA in Photography. While the camera and other various imaging technologies have been crucial to me, I've always found fulfillment in working with my hands. When I'm not working with digital images you can find me quilting, painting, making stained glass, laser-cutting, rock-hunting, trying new things in the kitchen, and so on. I really enjoy learning new methods of creation.

My interest in harnessing multiple means of fabrication began in high school. A team of myself and two other students crafted a 15ft tall modular anatomical heart, out of only cardboard, chicken wire, and paper mache. [I will just quickly address the humor in building a massive bleeding heart as a teenager in performing arts school :)] This instilled in me a deep appreciation for the collaborative process, and a love of problem-solving, both of which sustain me now.

I am principally concerned with conserving the here-and-now. Art and art-making offer us opportunities to escape our reality, or to dive deeper in. I believe it is our responsibility to not only do the latter, but to extend that spirit to the people we are privileged enough to share our work with.
